Lil Kim Breaks Down the Origins of Nicki Minaj Beef

Lil’ Kim has been having an ongoing spat with Nicki Minaj for quite some time now, but it was only yesterday, during an interview with Power 105’s The Breakfast Club, that Kim broke down the true story in what she describes as a deep rooted problem, stemming from a partnership gone sour with Cash Money Records.

“It’s deeper than that. Me and Slim were friends for four years, and we decided we were going to do business together. I was over there at Cash Money, and I was getting ready to be partners with him. When I was over there, we were working a lot. I was in Miami and he would put me in the studio.”

At that point Birdman offered to put her on a cut with empty space left for then-unknown Nicki Minaj, which Kim said would have been “good for music.” But when the record didn’t take off like they’d hoped, they pulled the song from Baby’s LP and stopped calling her. After that, Kim says that Nicki started getting slick about her on her records, to the point where the Young Money rapper was simply “obnoxious”.

“The problem with her is, she was very catty with it. I never had a problem with her. I was always nice with her. Always. She was a very obnoxious person, but I was very nice with her. From the time I saw her in that dressing room, the story she told, I don’t even know what the heck she was talking about. That’s not even how it happened. But from the moment that I met her, I was always cool with her. But after that, it almost seems like, when they realized, OK, we need Kim, we want to study her swag, that’s what it kind of felt like because I was around for a long time. They were like, OK, let’s study her swag and I think they wanted to get that record just to stamp that I was OK with what was going on.”

Kim eventually bumped into Nicki at Diddy’s son’s birthday party, and proceeded to brush her off.

“After that whole Cash Money situation with the song, we’re at Justin’s birthday party. Perfect time to come up and say, ‘Hey, we did the song together.’ Nothing. And she looked at me and rolled her eyes, and I was like, really? Every single record she made was coming at me.”

T.I and Young Jeezy to Collaborate on Joint Album?

Following T.I.’s appearance on MTV’s Rap Fix Live earlier this week, it would now appear that an album between himself and Young Jeezy is becoming more of a reality. While appearing on the live show T.I. spoke a little more in-depth on the possibility of a joint project and revealed that it would take “no time to put it together.”

“Me and Jeezy been talkin’ about doin’ this project for a minute,” T.I. explained during the interview. “It wouldn’t take us long to do. We got records already in the can and it don’t take us no time to put it together. It’s just a matter of when they would be released.”

As is increasingly the case these days, it would appear that business and corporate decisions are where the difficulties lie, and not with the creative process.

“It’s not the recording, the recording is easy.” T.I said, ”It’s a matter of when we would have time to market and promote them and release them. We’ve got maybe 30 or 40 per cent done. Between the two of us, we probably got five or six records.”

DMX Releases “The Weigh In” EP 15th May

DMX fans mark your calendars for May 15th, as we will release a new DMX project titled ‘The Weigh In.’

This free 10-track EP will feature brand new material from DMX as he prepares to release his upcoming seventh studio album ‘Undisputed.’

The EP is set to feature guest appearances from Snoop Dogg and Tyrese, while Lil Wayne will make a guest appearance on an interlude. Production of the album was handled by Dame Grease, Niam Son, Wayno, Rich Kidd, and Dr. Dre.

DMX previously announced his 7th album ‘Undisputed’ will be released on June 26, 2012. The album will feature guest appearances from Busta Rhymes, Tyrese, Jennifer Hudson, and more, as well as production from Deezle, Swizz Beatz and others.

J.Cole Confirms Joint Album with Kendrick Lemar is Underway

They managed to keep this one on the down low. While it has been strongly rumoured in recent months, J. Cole came out yesterday to say he and Kendrick Lamar are four or five songs deep on their joint project.

“I just started working with Kendrick the other day,” revealed Cole in an interview with Hot 97.5 in the U.S . “We got it in, finally, again. It’s gonna be an album, man. We actually worked, bouncing ideas, which was great. The vibe was so good that it was like, man, that’s absolutely gonna happen,” he added.

“We got maybe four or five [songs] together.”

Cole also heaped praise upon Kendrick and Top Dawg Entertainment during the interview for placing such a high value on each of their releases. “When Kendrick blows, you can go back and buy his mixtapes – because he called his mixtapes albums. So I really respect how they did it.”

Eminem to Feature on 50 Cent’s “The Lost Tape”

The release date for 50 Cent‘s The Lost Tape with DJ Drama is drawing ever closer, and as always 50 has been quick to court publicity, deciding to make some early revelations regarding the features on the project.

“I got Eminem on the intro of one of the actual joints,” said Fif during an interview on his own site, “The 2 Chainz joint is on there. Me and Kidd Kidd. Did one with Jeremih. I kinda think it’s hotter, not than the rest of the tape – it’s cleaner.”

50 continued in a who’s who list of features, which included a longtime collaborator and one of his artists. “Snoop and [Precious] Paris. I like what Paris is doing. She just did the ’Remain Calm’.

50 was also asked about Lloyd Banks, and whether he was still part of G-Unit’s plans. “He’s not on the mixtape,” explained 50. “He’s been doing his shows, so they’ve been seeing him.”
