Drake Releases ‘Make Me Proud’ Feat. Nicki Minaj

Drake has long been known to lay bare his love life through his lay it on the line lyrics. He rapped about his fleeting relationship with Rihanna on ‘Fireworks’, and on ‘Best I Ever Had’  and ‘Marvin’s Room’ he also raps about romance. The caring Canadian has followed a familiar path with the single ‘Make Me Proud’ which details his respect and abundant admiration for the women around him.

On ‘Make Me Proud’, the latest single from sophomore album, ‘Take Care’, Drizzy opens up about Nicki Minaj and the appreciation he has for women like her. He told MTV News: “Whenever I make songs surrounding women, I always try to find refreshing stances to take as opposed to just like, “Oh, you’re sexy” or “Oh, I want you.” The song, it really came up in passing conversation, just being like, “I’m proud of you.”

Drake declared that it wasn’t just her Minajesty who made him marvel, but female acquaintances of his in general who are succeeding in life: “Not even necessarily that a woman has to go achieve grandiose things to be proud; it’s just that I’m proud of you for trying.” He continued: So I’m just proud of you whether it’s Nicki or any girl that I’ve ever known in my life that’s doing well for herself.”

The romantic rapper concluded his affectionate admission by stating: “It’s a dope thing to say, like, ‘Go out there and make me proud.” He added: “And you don’t feel uncomfortable as a man saying it.” Despite his dark and stern exterior, when it comes to revealing emotions, Drake is undeniably deeper than his disinclining demeanor suggests.
