If you are already acquainted with this true great of the scene then you know what I am talking about, if not then you need to fix up and get yourself immersed in one of the best back catalogues you are likely to hear.

Spanning nearly 25 years starting with the legendary partnership with New York DJ Eric B, Rakim’s career kicked off in 1987 with what MTV has dubbed “The Greatest Hip Hop Album of All Time”  “Paid in Full” this masterful MC has gone from strength to strength continually garnering  huge critical acclaim with each new release, most recently with the album  “The Seventh Seal”.

Having split with Eric B in acrimonious fashion in the early 90’s, the New York native has not only proved himself a legend behind the mic but also shown his diversity behind the scenes after working with some of the biggest names in the game as producer, screenwriter and author.

His live shows are legendary and the number of artists clambering to name check him in their songs or who continue to spout him as an influence is astonishing.  Dr Dre, Ghost Face Killer, Eminem, Wu-Tang Klan, A Tribe Called Quest, the late Tupac Shakur and a host of others have all in one way or another doffed their peaked caps to a true great of the industry.

This will be a special live show in which Rakim will perform his landmark “Paid in Full” album in its entirety alongside a selection of his other classic hits. So 6th of May need I say more, see you there!
