Nas and Amy Winehouse – “Like Smoke”

Back in the headlines, Nas is here with an unreleased song “Like Smoke” with the late, great Amy Winehouse.

It was no secret that the two were close friends before she tragically passed away in July 2011, at the age of 27. It has long been reported that Amy’s hit track “Me and Mr Jone’s” was a dedication to Mr Nasir Jone’s himself, with the line “Mr Destiny, 9 and 14”, referencing Nas’s daughter, Destiny, and the September 14 birth date she shared with the rapper.

It is reported that the song “Like Smoke” was initially recorded back in 2008, though some of Nas’ lyrics (like the reference to Occupy Wall Street) were obviously laid down after the singers death. The track is produced by Salaam Remi who not only is a longtime collaborator of Amy’s but also worked on Nas’ lastest single “Nasty”

“Like Smoke” is the lead single from Amy’s new album, “Lioness: Hidden Treasures”. The album is due to be released Decmber 5th.
