Now this isn’t the typical Hip-Hop act you see coming to Dublin. In normal circumstances, there are two types of Hip-Hop show; the highly credible, almost hipster-esque act that is dripping with integrity and realness, and the high profile, commercially successful rapper, who typically targets a teenage crowd and fills the Three arena. Rae Sremmurd falls somewhere between the stools here, and it will be intriguing to see how the show sells.
For many, the group are a guilty pleasure. Hits such as No Flex Zone and No Type are annoyingly infectious, with the latter being a stalwart of urban clubs across the city. And therein lies the dilemma. Clubbers are notoriously hesitant when it comes to ticket sales. Put Rae Sremmurd on a club night and you have a sell-out event. As a stand alone concert, that remains to be seen. In any case, we’ll be there!
