Hip-Hop to take over the 53rd Grammy Awards… Read all the nominations and performances here…

This week it has been announced that Drake and Rihanna will perform together at this year’s Grammy Awards ceremony taking place in Los Angeles at Staples Centre on Sunday, February 13.

The ceremony already has a big Hip Hop line-up which will include performances from Eminem, B.O.B, Cee Lo Green, Bruno Mars and a joint performance from Usher, Justin Bieber and Jaden Smith. Other performers on the night come from Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Arcade Fire and Muse to name just a few.

It should prove interesting to see what kind of performance we will get from the oft-rumored couple Drake and Rihanna. If the chemistry in the video for Ri Ri’s video for “Whats My Name” is anything to go by then fans of the duo are in for a treat.

Drake is not new to performing at the Grammy Awards, having stolen the show with last year’s performance “Forever”, with Travis Barker on the drums alongside hip-hop heavy weights Eminem and Lil Wayne (with Kanye West noticeable by his absence). At last years awards Rihanna’s  “Run This Town” took both Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration making that Grammy number 3 from the Barbados S&M freak!

Eminem tops the nominations this time around, with a shot at 10 gongs, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year for the monster hit “Love the Way You Lie” Ft Rihanna. Slim is also up for Album of the Year and Best Rap Album for “Recovery”.  After an amazing year, Bruno Mars is next up with 7 nominations and not far behind him is Jay Z with 6 nods. B.O.B , John Legend and The Roots have picked up 5 nominations each. Drake, Rihanna and Cee Lo Green are up for 4 awards. Up for 3 Grammy Awards each are Alica Keys, Beyonce and Chris Brown. Monica, Sade and Fantasia are nominated for 2 Grammy Awards respectively.

Be sure to come back to Rapireland.com the 14th of February for the best of the HipHop & R&B performances of the 53rd Grammy Awards.
