Lauryn Hill & Ziggy: Bob Marley tribute performances

This week, here at Rap Ireland, we informed you that Lauryn Hill and Ziggy Marley were amongst a variety of stars due to perform on the ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ show for a Bob Marley Tribute Week to commemorate the 30th anniversary of singers passing.

Bob Marley’s eldest son Ziggy kicked off the week with an impressive performance of his fathers classic anthem ‘Get Up, Stand Up’. The reggae singer will headline Donegal’s Sea Sessions Festival on June 26th, before hitting Dublin’s Vicar Street the following night for an intimate gig. Ziggy Marley’s fourth studio album ‘Wild and Free’ is due for release on June 14th.

Ms Lauryn Hill, who has five children with the late singers son Rohan Marley, made a rare television appearance on Thursday nights show. Backed by her own band rather than Fallons in house hip hop band The Roots; Ms Hill performed a rendition of Bob’s classic tracks ‘Could You Be Loved’ and ‘Chances Are’. Amongst reports of a highly anticipated comeback, it is also speculated that L.Boogie may be pregnant with her sixth child. At an L.A show last month, Ms Hill jokingly stated “I keep having these children. I don’t know if I’m the most fertile woman in America.” and hinted “wait until you hear the big secret” before performing her hit track dedicated to her first born son ‘Zion’.
