The Dream states he made $15 million for writing Rihanna’s Umbrella hit

You can always rely on our man Westwood to dig out previously unknown information, and he did it again when he got The Dream into studio. While you probably best know The Dream for his solo projects, where he has been reasonably successful, it is in fact his writing skills that have propelled many others to international stardom.

When asked about his pay packet for “Umbrella”, undoubtedly one of his biggest hits, The Dream replied with the figure:

“Around, like…fifteen [million],” he explained. “I was just trying to pay the bills.”

Also, bizarrely, The Dream spoke about an argument with the Def Jam A&R prior to writing Justin Bieber’s smash “Baby”, where apparently the record executive was refusing The Dream’s paltry demands for recording a hit; namely a hotel room at The Plaza.
