Introducing FreshMusic TV

Two young guys from the North of Ireland have launched an online channel to help Irish HipHop acts get themselves out there, the channel is FMTV.

Scot Kinkade and Chris Douglas, both eighteen and from Belfast are the two guys who have set up this channel. Scot is a student of art and a dedicated HipHop fan, he has been writing for a few years and also has a heavy hand in media. Chris who is working as an apprentice is also a massive HipHop fan. The two got together and with their passion for the culture, they decided to set up the channel to push an avenue for Irish artists to get out there and showcase their talents.

The idea behind the channel is that any emcee makes a video of themselves spitting a rhyme of 64 bars over any track that they like – it can be an original track or over a well known instrumental as long as the rhymes are your own and original. For the video, just state who you are, where you’re from and then drop your flow.

This is a great way for people to get themselves out there and noticed and maybe create some opportunities. It is also a good way for emcees to get some constructive criticism on their art allowing them make the tweaks necessary to improve on it.

The channel has only just launched and needs your help to make this a steady avenue and push the scene here in Ireland. Ren from Belfast, who happens to be the channels co-founder Scot Kinkade, has posted a solid 64 bar video on the channel. Mango of The Animators has also posted a savage 64 bar piece of his own.

For anyone who thinks they have skills or wants to pursue a line as an emcee, this is your platform. Get involved and show your support.
